Nach der Schule macht der gebürtige Kleinlangheimer eine Lehre als Maurer und arbeitet dann 15 Jahre in einem Kleinlangheimer. 1970 wechselte er ins Kitzinger Gusswerk  und arbeitete dort als Druckgießer 30 Jahre lang bis zur Rente. Er bediente drei vollautomatische Maschinen 'und ich bin in jeder Schicht von einer Maschine zur anderen gerannt, da kamen immer etliche Kilometer zusammen', erinnert er sich noch an diese Zeit.";
